My amateur Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut review

On Steam!

Disclaimer: I am still in the middle of playing the game, so these are my current thoughts as of 1/15/2025!
Also this game is over 20 years old, so my review technically means nothing!

I have been writing on small sticky notes as I play, the pros and cons of the game. In the list, I will also just rant about it. Can it still be called a list at that point? Should I just make each it's own-

Pros

  • Music: Rockin! I don't have much to say. It makes my head bop. It certainly makes me feel like I am on the beach with a skateboard. um I'll add more of my thoughts later.
  • Graphics: Simple! It sucks but I love it because it reminds me of Ocarina of Time on the N64!(Insert image here)
  • Free Camera Mode: Unless I'm wrong about how it works, I prefer Free Camera Mode over Auto Camera Mode because, for whatever reason, Auto Camera would like to make me dizzy. Actually, I'm going to stop talking about how it works because I have no clue how it works. I just like it. Let's move on.
  • Hidden dialogue from idling: While I was trying to frantically run around and find a working charger for my phone, Sonic noticed I wasn't moving very much. I was near Tails' ...uh hideout? (i forgor) and he just- "IT MUST BE PRETTY LONELY UP HERE!" ...30 seconds of still trying to find a charger later... "IT MUST BE PRETTY LONELY UP HERE!" I don't know. Something about it is just so much funnier than it probably should b- "GOTTA GET MOVIN!"
  • The next few are pros and cons, and will probably appear at the end of the cons. What do I know? I'm just the editor who's been running on soda since the water froze. Winter sucks. Next question.

  • Chao iz adorable: I named mine "Baby" because it is a cute baby. But I couldn't figure out where I was supposed to go with it. So I'm 90% sure I left it. Oops.
  • Cons

  • WHere am I goIng?:I often have to run around and around to find out where I am meant to be next. I wish there were more clear signs on where I'm meant to be. Especially when I log out for the night, and when I return, I hardly remember where I am at all.
